Recap of the NAFA FURCHINA Sale: Day 1

After a week of buyer outreach and skin demonstration workshops in all of China’s major fur markets, and a very busy inspection period of the NAFA Mink collection at FURCHINA in Yuyao, Rob Cahill, NAFA Sr. Vice-President of International Marketing and Tony Xie, President of FURCHINA welcomed a packed auction room of leading figures from the Chinese and Hong Kong Fur trade to this historic event.  Some 2,000 registered buyers and viewers logged into the online WeChat system, however due to current market conditions, buying of the collection of previously offered NAFA mink was selective throughout the day.

The retail season in China is off to a slow start, which has had a cooling effect on the skin dealing and wholesale market over the past month.  While disappointing, NAFA was not prepared to drop prices at this time, rather held out for full market levels to maximize returns for our shippers, and protect the trade’s interest at this critical time of the year.  The trade remains optimistic that as the cool weather comes in, garment sales will rebound as general economic conditions are favourable.

The international Chinese and Hong Kong brokers and the trade as a whole applauded NAFA for its promotional efforts throughout China, and in working with FURCHINA on a test online platform.  Hundreds of new customers, that do not normally travel to international auctions have inspected the NAFA collection at FURCHINA, a development that should pay dividends for us in the coming year.  Purchases were also made by NAFA customers in the USA and Europe.

Please note that all unsold skins are available via the Pipipai Private Treaty catalogue, on the WeChat application. Unsold goods will continue to be available in the P.T section until midnight local time (China Standard Time – CST) on the final day of sale (October 19).
