Market Update – Novosibirsk, Russia

Snow and freezing temperatures greeted Russian Marketing Agents Oksana Moroz and Svetlana Kruglikova during an early November trip to Novosibirsk, Russia’s third largest city and the largest in Siberia.  The city of 1.5 million people is known for its harsh winters; snow is frequent and falls on almost half of all winter days.  Temperatures can dip to a frigid -30 degrees Celsius on the coldest days but, on average, the winter temperature ranges from -12 to -20 Celsius. By the first week of November this year, 20 centimeters of snow had already accumulated on the ground.

The city is known within the industry as being a ‘meeting point’ for dealers from the northern regions of Russia and Kazakhstan.   NAFA is well established in this region and buyers, manufacturers and retailers are familiar with our exquisite and vast collection of fur.

Overall, retail sales in Russia are down slightly from last year but, in Novosibirsk, there is optimism as the cold weather has arrived which usually triggers an increase in sales.  Black NAFA is the number one desired brand on the market; owners of boutique fur shops indicate that clients covet high fashion and high quality for their fur garments.  Exclusive and high end garments are being sold more quickly than any other and NAFA’s name is well-entrenched as the superior brand.
